Seniority

Seniority. The final snapshot
of high school life! the final step
in completing your high school
education. Ready to now journey
on to new things. Each year,
another senior class leaves its
mark on the school but the best
is the class of "08."

We kept it loud and proud
and will be remembered as one of
the hypest, crunkest, crazest
classes to have ever stepped
through this school.

Even though this opportunity
only comes once in your life, don't
take advantage. being a senior
shows that you did what it takes
to make it. so make your final
snapshot "picture perfect!" keep it

TIGHT CLASS OF "08." -LuRoy Brewer

An Evening of Romance

Prom 2007

With the music pumpin', Howe Juniors and Seniors

got their groove on! Sophomore Josh Sims said "It was a

blast! Even though the food wasn't the best, the music

helped get the night rollin' right!"

Sr. Samantha Rhoton said, "Oh my gosh, the music was not

for me. They had no selection that I liked."

Premos was a new venu for us, and we enjoyed having

such a large ballroom! Senior TJ Tompkins said, "I liked

having more room and the place looked amazing!"

So we danced our way to midnight, got in our limos

and went to the after-party. The lights, sounds, music and

friends made Prom 2007 trully a night of Romance!

Attention, Attention, Attention!

All Juniors listen to this special announcement. This is just a reminder
that you only have one year left. Yes, that's right go ahead and cheer. Go
ahead and brag that you are practically a senior!
So Juniors, how do you feel after yet another year of high school?
Keisha Clanton said her biggest challenge as a Junior was Geometry. Was
this year like every other one, or was there something unique that
happened? Just take the time to think back and cherish those memories.
It's definetly time to celebrate!

Picture Perfect Jobs!

Ipods, Cds, clothes, and cars. There are so many things teens

have their eyes on, but without money it's hard to get such expensive

things. There comes a time when parents stop giving allowance. Thus,

teens have to find a new way to get money, in other words; GET A

JOB! From Chuck E Cheese to Community East, there are tons of

options, but they all have one thing in common; at the end of the

week you come home with a nice check with your name on it.

Justin Piland Jamie Woods

Ryan Fox Noah Neat Josh Pulliam

Now you have your own money to pay for that new Ipod or
those shoes that you have been dying to have! Having a job is
not easy, but it definately has its benefits. You may not have as
much time to spend with friends and the work may be stressful
at times, but most teens say, "it's worth it." Working is a sign of
responsibility and maturity and most importantly, it gives you a
little extra cash as a reward for your hard work!

Digital Perfection

Electronics are everywhere! It seems as if
these devices are necessities to young adults
today. Students listen to music and play with
their phones in class even though teachers are
cracking down on it. These electronic devices
are a vital part of our social life. Taking them
away would be like stripping us of our
culture, our comfort, and our livelihood.

Cellphones. iPods. CD Players. ^Tio
doesn't own one of these? Better, yet who
doesn't carry one of these wherever they
go? Everyday in school we see kids with
their cell phones out texting each other to
get the latest buzz. Either that, or they
have headphones on listening to then-
favorite song.

Expectations

TO HlGHSCHOOL STUDENTS, IT'S
ALL THE SAME. BUT TO A 7TH
GRADER ABOUT TO ENTER THE 8TH
GRADE, IT IS A BIG DEAL! IT SEEMS
THEIR BIGGEST CONCERN IS TO KEEP UP
WITH THE MORE CHALLENGING
CLASSES AND BIGGER RESPONSIBILITIES.

" I DONT THINK THE CLASSES
WILL BE THAT MUCH HARDER, BUT
THEY WILL STILL BE A LITTLE MORE
CHALLENGING. I WILL DEFINITELY PAY
MORE ATTENTION IN CLASS AND GET
ALL MY WORK DONE BECAUSE I
WASN'T SATISFIED WITH MY GRADES
LAST YEAR. I DON'T WANT TO GET
IN AS MUCH TROUBLE AND I
DEFINITLY DON'T WANT TO BE IN
THE DEAN'S OFFICE TOO MUCH, THEN
THE ADMINISTRATORS WILL KNOW
MY NAME." SAID TONY SNYDER

Christian Mearz 'What I want mostly is to get through math with a good

GRADE, PLAY BASEBALL WITH A WINNING RECORD, AND TRY OUT FOR FOOTBALL AGAIN.
MY MAIN CONCERN IS HOW MUCH HARDER CLASSES WILL BE, AND I DONT WANT

TO HAVE THE DRESS CODE!"

Oh, to be a 7th grader!!!
Being in 7th grade at Howe, is
kinda like being a freshmen at
other high schools. that is
because they are the youngest of
the bunch, and are brand new
to the school

They have to Learn their
way around the school, get to
know all of the rules, and make
new friends. everyone else has
already been there and done

THAT!

Aren't you glad, 7th
graders, that this stage is over,
and you finally are moving on
to the next level?
congratulations...you are

YEARBOOK, A word that may not mean a lot to you.
To those on the staff, it meant dedication, hardwork, and non-
stop deadlines. Being a part of the yearbook staff has its
perks, hut it's not all fun and games. Even with Mrs. Ajayi
gone, her students had to continue working on the book
without, the help of their teacher. With the guidance of Chief
Editor, Keondra Dukes, and the assistance of other dedicated
editors, the class managed until Mrs. Ajayi returned!

When you hear DaVinci,
Donatelo, or AAichaelangelo, what
comes to mind? Is it "Hey a couple
of those were Ninja Turtles." Or,
"Hey those were the best artists of
their time." Either way, you
probably have heard about them
through T.V. or just in common
conversation.

When talking to Mrs. Pontius,
about her journey through art
school, she told a very interesting
story. She said her art professor
made her take a book of DaVinci's
drawings and duplicate them, every
one in the book, not once but twice.
She said she specifically remembers
her reaction to him, saying "are you
out of your mind, I'm paying you
$800 a grading period and you're
just gonna turn me loose to do
this!" Now, she says she is so glad
she did it because she bases all her
art work off of DaVinci's style!

"Portraits without a doubt. I love to
work with pictures, NOT real life A
still shot is so much easier. I love
when a portrait turns out perfect, I
am immediatly satisfied with the
end result."

"Seriously, when I got to college
with DaVinci, that's when I
started drawing."

"Yes, my other five
brothers don't appreciate
the beauty of most art."

"I like portraits more because I
like more of a life like
appearence of art. Portraits of

because I am a man and I know

When asked "What do you think is the main purpose of
JROTC," most students replied "mainly discipline," But come
on people, there is discipline in every class. Sophomore,
Kathleen Graves knew the answer, "It is to motivate students
to become better citizens."

JROTC is not just to teach Army values, it also
prepares students to become better leaders. As they proved
they could take orders, respect authority, and accept
responsibility cadets were rewarded. By rewarded, it means
they rccicvcd metals, pins, status advances, and much more.
Sophomore, Emilcc Games said, "JROTC helps me stay

showed spirit and good spotsmanshipi They ultimately had a good
competitive season which trained them lor victories to come*.

not all ol the players are new at this. Shelia Rail has been
playing lor 9 years and was named flO.P. lor the team. She was
a strong leader on the court as well as in the classroom! Shiela'S
example on and oil the court was Picture Perfect!

You can see the intensity in Jose's face as he
kicked the ball to the other side of the field.

trei ■

"I'm Open, I'm Open"

That is what you heard from the field at our
soccer games. We had a young team, having only
two starters return from last year. The team
worked hard, but only won one game throughout
the season. Jose Gonsalez played goalie, and
worked extra hard to keep the other team from
scoring. Jose said, "If I didn't kick the ball to the
other half, it wouldn't get there." He thought they
would have done better this year if they had more
players. The team believes they can hype up the
sport to attract more athletes. With dedication
and practice, players believe future seasons will
be more victorious! Athletic Director, Mr.
Wilson, agrees by saying, "The team played hard,
but we need more players to compliment the
ones we had on the field this year. Other teams
could send in subs with fresh legs, while we
would be competeing with only one or two subs.
That made it hard, but the team should be
commended for their efforts. They never quit,
and that is the attitude that develops winners in
sports and in life!" by Robert Buford

Will we make it to state? - A question that lingered throughout
the entire school all season long. There were "BTO PROBLEMS"
within the team and they had an amzincj record. "Failure is not
an option," said Senior Gregory Foster. MVP, Larry Stone rose
expectations regularly, forcing freshmen like Alvin lloutte to
keep up!!! "Me being young, I felt like I had to work harder than
everyone else," said lioutte. It became "Gainetiine" indeed when
Sophomore Jordan Manuel told the team "Work hard or go
home and model." The sky was limit as our Hornets lived,
dreamed, and ate basketball all year long. "Basketball is my life,"
said Senior, Keyon Milliner, "I want, to help everyone around me
while I can, as long as I can." Whether we won state or not, in
teamwork the Hornets were always in 1st Place!!!!!!!

Our Baseball Team showed not only athletism, but
teamwork and character. These guys stuck together on
the diamond, at school, and outside of school. They're
like a big family of brothers. Almost all of them said it
felt great to have won the IPSAC Conference and one
said it was excellent! That shows that baseball is more
than just a game, it is achieving something together as a
team. Zack Rogers (#4) has a saying, "Go in as one and
come out the same." This means they came in as a team
and left as a team, no player is better than another
because they play as a team. This squad is amazing!

iPETntBaanr

Oh, the life of a high school cheerleader. With Friday
night football and late night basketball games, the
cheerleaders truly are the heart of the Hornets. Junior
Jasmine Downing said," You must be dedicated, have poise,
a 'go get em' attitude, cheer on your team no matter what,
and have fun without, making yourself look stupid!" She's
right, cheerleaders have to stay positive even when the
team is losing, because it is their job to pep up the team and
the fans. These attributes are what attracts others to try
out for cheerleading. Senior Adrianna Speed said, "I
wanted to become a cheerleader when our basketball team
won sectionals. I could see the cheerleaders were having so
much fun!" Cheerleaders are role models for some and must
try to set examples in whatever they do, because you never
know when you will be put IN THE SPOTLIGHT!!!!!!!!!

"Hush little baby, don't you cry." Some of our students
have sung this song to their own child. Babies sure are cute,
but they come with a lot of responsibility and sacrifice. It is a
difficult task to stay in school and take care of a child.
Krist'n McAtee has a baby named Kuron. She said, "it is hard
to have to miss school then make up work, if you have a lot
of support, it gets easier." While she is at school her mom
keeps Kuron, but once Krist'n gets home, there is hardly time
for anything but the baby. However, she said the only grade
that dropped was pre-calculous, and it dropped a lot. Despite
the challenges of parenthood, Krist'n still plans to attend
college at iupui. This is a good example to any student that is
pregnant or who already has a child. Stay in school and keep
your head up because that's what it takes to be successful!
